Pilot Project for Standardized Processing and Validation of Nocturnal Wildlife Vocalizations
A Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) Pilot Project, Joro completed acoustic and visual transcription of 25,204 audio recordings collected for wolf activity. Joro staff spent around 250 hours processing and transcribing recordings. For wolf activity, recordings were transcribed showing wolf vocalizations, ranging from single animals calling to a pack of 3-4 wolves. Industrial and environmental noise recorded included falling trees, jet airplane flyovers, motorboat engines, running water, light to heavy rainfall and wind, and thunderstorms.
